Learn more about a few notable events in June that we attended, such as the Velocity Conference.

Velocity Conference

It was a treat to attend the Velocity and Software Architect conference in San Jose where 2,500+ systems and site reliability engineers, architects, application developers attended. The four-day event brought over 100 speakers to the stage sharing insights and best practices in all things DevOps, Kubernetes, and of course, Logging.

Yaniv Aknin, SRE at Google Cloud, presented on “The SRE I aspire to be” where he provided a recipe for crafting a good SRE team, categorized into 3 buckets: obvious, less obvious and least obvious. Obvious items are traditional when defining devops responsibilities such as monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, CI/CD & rollouts, and load balancing. Less obvious items are needed to provide context and understanding of distributed systems, including system architecture, distributed algorithms, networking, and operating systems. Least obvious points require time but do not have to fall on a single person. Teams can work together on product management, data science, business acumen, and UXR. This challenges these ‘firefighting’ teams to take a step back from ops and invest in the long-term.

The CIO Forum provided members of our executive team a unique opportunity to engage with attending CIOs and IT executives, while discussing current industry challenges and trends.

Our CEO, Chris Nguyen had the opportunity to present on the Future of Observability and shared insights from LogDNA's partnership with IBM Cloud.

The presentation touched upon several trends facing CIOs today; the exponential growth of data generated, the popularity of containerization and microservices, and the rise of hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure are challenging the industry to shift their observability strategy
