LogDNA is now Mezmo but the product you know and love is here to stay.

LogDNA Alerts are a key feature for developers and SREs to stay on top of their systems and applications, as it notifies them of important changes in their log data. However, with so many different workflows to account for, it was important to enable a flexible solution that could connect to any team’s toolkit. This is why, alongside our direct 3rd party Alert integrations like Slack and PagerDuty, we created Webhook Alerts — an easy way to define an endpoint and a request body to be sent whenever an Alert is triggered.

How have Webhook Alerts been used today?

Webhook Alerts allow teams to customize LogDNA Alerts to fit within their tools and requirements. Not only has this feature been used to integrate with popular tools like Microsoft Teams and ServiceNow, it has also created opportunities for users to create dedicated LogDNA Alert integrations for their own products. However, we knew that in order to make Webhook Alerts more actionable for our users, we needed to optimize the experience, and provide even more customization so developers and SREs have instant access to the data they need. By allowing teams to more easily parse and identify the most critical information within a LogDNA Alert, they can resolve issues more quickly, and go back to focusing on delivering code.

What is new about LogDNA Webhook Alerts?

We’re excited to announce our new enhanced suite of Webhook tokens to allow for further customization of LogDNA Alerts. These tokens can be used to create a request body with any piece of log data that triggers an Alert. Here is a complete list of the data we are now able to send, with the newest tokens listed in bold:

    • View Name
    • Number of Log Lines Matched
    • Raw output of Lines
    • Severity level
    • View URL
    • View query
    • App name
    • Host name
    • Tag name
    • Single log line in JSON
    • Array of all log lines in JSON

This level of customization allows users to send a request object with only the fields that matter the most. In addition, our new Webhook tokens enable Alerts that link back directly to the log in LogViewer — providing a seamless user experience and enabling faster incident resolution.

    How Do I Get Started?

The new enhanced set of Webhook Alert tokens is now available for all customers. To edit an existing Webhook Alert or create a new Webhook Alert, follow our documentation found here.
